Please consider Community Food Response as you make your charitable contributions this year
By the end of 2015, thanks to your generosity, Community Food Response (CFR) will have served more than 70,000 meals to almost 30,000 people in the Rochester community. It’s astounding to think that so many of our neighbors are hungry, and that the need is increasing each year.
Community Food Response “rescues” an average of 14,600 pounds of prepared food each month –food donated by restaurants, cafeterias, groceries, and bakeries that would have otherwise been discarded. Thanks to our amazing volunteer drivers, food sorters, and distributers, CFR serves more than 800 families in need each month.
As the number of those in need in our community continues to grow, our goal of meeting as much of that need as possible presents many challenges. CFR is a not-for-profit, volunteer-led organization, and we rely exclusively on donations and grants to continue operating. Each year, CFR’s largest expense is the $20,000 we spend for food distribution containers. Additionally, we must replace coolers and other kitchen supplies and equipment that help us ensure the safety of the food we serve and the well-being of our clients.
Please consider Community Food Response as you make your charitable contributions this year. Your donation will help us continue to keep the doors open and the table filled for the men, women, and children who struggle with hunger every day. You can make a secure donation online right now or mail a check payable to Community Food Response. CFR also welcomes gifts of stock and donations from retirement accounts.
Thank you for your generous support for Community Food Response, and for your dedication to the goal of never having any of our neighbors go to bed hungry.
Best wishes for a peaceful holiday season.
